The Data Protection Commissioner acknowledges that the use of CCTV may be necessary to secure the school premises, especially around the perimeter. However, constant surveillance of staff and students in day-to-day activities is not considered justifiable.

It is strongly advised that CCTV cameras should not be installed inside classrooms. Schools must ensure that their security practices are respectful, limited, and in compliance with data protection guidelines.
